Elephants are an iconic animal of Southeast Asia and are at the top of tourists lists to see. Sadly, these beautiful giants are disappearing fast and will soon be extinct if they aren’t protected. Many are killed for their ivory and hundreds still live horrendous lives in riding camps. I’ve seen some places advertising elephant rides without seats as more friendly, but even if you’re not sitting on one of the little seats the elephant still isn’t free to do what they want. Too see an elephant responsibly look for places with minimal interaction with the animals. Just looking at them is incredible and they are one of my favourite animals to paint.
